Norwegian Seafood Centre
The Norwegian Seafood Centre has 13 years experience working with the development of seafood, has 13 employees and is organized as a foundation. The headquarters are located at the Fisheries Centre in Bontelabo in Bergen, in addition to the new knowledge and experience centre on the 2nd floor of the fish market. Their main activities include: For the public:
- Seafood courses, presenting seafood at various public events and food festivals
- Development and management of projects and consulting for companies in development projects
- Academic conferences and topic specific meetings
- Training programs at schools, grocery stores, restaurants and the seafood industry
- Seafood events, cookery courses and seminars for groups and companies in our “seafood theater” at the Fish Market
Austevoll Maritime vocational college
Austevoll maritime vocational college is certified as a “Naval Academy” by the Norwegian Veritas. You can go to a Maritime tertiary vocational education that leads to the Deck Officer Class 1 certificate – the highest nautical certificate – which makes you qualified to work on all types of vessels.
Fusa vocational college – TAF Marine
In the autumn of 2004, a new education center at Fusa secondary school offering natural resource management/aquaculture studies started up. This option is called “TAF-Marine”. Education and training within the TAF-Marine program is in collaboration between the school and the aquaculture industry in Hordaland.
Måløy Secondary School
The school offers courses within both marine and maritime subjects, and the courses are available throughout the whole of Sogn og Fjordane county. In addition they offer TAF. The school is localized by the vocational school in Sogn og Fjordane, maritime department Måløy, which offers nautical and ship-technical courses, leading to a rank as naval officer. Opplæringskontoret for fiskerifagene i Hordaland
The training office works to increase recruitment within the fishing- and aquaculture industry in Hordaland. The goal is to provide apprentices to the companies. This is done through extensive contact with students, teachers, parents, organizations, media, public administration and the industry.
